The margarine project is a perfect example of how I did implement a collections of video and images. The user can post new topics about Margarine and upload both images or video.

I used both content types and taxonomy to manage both videos and images. Drupal offers many flexible way to display the content, therefore each node could have even both images and video attached to it.
